Wilson's header slid past Christy Ganc for the
game-winner

NEWARK, DE -- Senior Sara
Wilson redirected a Ginette Buffone indirect kick at 53:36
for the games lone score to give Delaware a 1-0 win over St.
Joseph's in women's soccer action Wednesday
night.
The win improved the Blue
Hens' record to 2-0 on the season. Wilson, a native of Great
Falls, VA (Herndon HS), leaped out of a crowd of defenders
to head in the winning score for her first goal of the
season.
Junior goalkeeper Rachel
Bersin (Bridgewater Raritan/Bridgewater, NJ) notched a
shutout in her first start of the season. Her 11 career
shutouts rank her fourth on the Delaware all-time list.
Bersin recorded two of her three saves late in the game to
secure the victory for the Blue Hens.
St. Joseph's keeper Christy
Ganc had four saves in a losing effort for the Hawks
(1-1).
Delaware heads to the road for
the next six games including a trip to Utah. The road trip
begins at Penn this Sunday at 1 p.m. The Blue Hens return to
Delaware Mini-Stadium to face George Mason October 3rd at 7
p.m.
