NEWARK, DE -- The
University of Delaware women's soccer team could not get the
offense going as it lost to Stony Brook University, 1-0,
Sunday afternoon at the Mini-Stadium.
After a first half possession
battle that left the game scoreless, Stony Brook scored
quickly in the second half. A Jessica Enes shot took a
strange bounce over the head of UD goalie Rachel
Bersin, after hitting a Delaware defender. Goal- keeper
Lori Nelson stopped five shots to clinch Stony Brook's (1-9,
1-5) first win of the season.
Rachel Bersin recorded nine
saves in goal to move into third place on on the Blue Hens'
all-time saves list, in the losing effort.
Delaware (6-6, 2-4) attempts
to get back on course Friday night at 7 p.m. at the
Mini-Stadium as it takes on Hofstra in conference play.
