Towson Too Much for Blue Hens.

BALTIMORE, MD -- Towson University scored three second-half goals to defeat the University of Delaware, 3-0, in women's soccer Saturday afternoon at Towson Center Field. It was the final regular season game for both teams.

Towson's Mandy Zachman broke up the scoreless tie in the 51st minute, scoring with a header off a Jessie Whippo corner kick. Melissa Mueller and Maggie Lennon each added a goal to give the Tigers a three-goal advantage. Towson controlled the game outshooting UD, 15-8.

Delaware finishes the regular season with an overall record of 10-7-1, 5-5-1 in America East Conference play.

Despite the loss, Delaware will join Towson (6-9-2, 5-5-1) in the America East Tournament. The sixth-seeded Tigers will travel to No. 3 Hofstra for a 1 p.m. start Tuesday. Hofstra beat Towson on Oct. 21, 2-1, in Baltimore.

The University of Delaware enters as a No. 4 seed and will host fifth-seeded New Hampshire Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Mini-Stadium. The Hens defeated New Hampshire last Sunday, 2-0, at the Mini-Stadium with Caryn Blood and Brittany Campbell each scoring for UD.
