Blood Has a Hand in Both Goals as UD Ups Unbeaten Streak to Five

Caryn Blood scored a goal and assisted on another

DURHAM, NH - Sophomore Caryn Blood (Red Bank, NJ/Red Bank Catholic/U. of Miami, Fla.) scored one goal and assisted on another as the University of Delaware women's soccer team ran its unbeaten streak to five games with a 2-0 America East victory over New Hampshire at Lewis Field Sunday afternoon.

The Hens, who are now 4-0-1 in its last five games, improved to 10-6-1 (5-4-1 America East) and moved into third place in the America East standings with one league game remaining. The top six teams in the league advance to the league tournament scheduled for Nov. 7-9. New Hampshire, which had won three of its last four games, fell to 6-9-3 (5-4-1).

Delaware has now defeated the Wildcats three straight years. The five-game unbeaten streak is the longest for the Blue Hens since starting last season 6-0-1.

After a scoreless first half, Blood got the Hens going when she converted a penalty kick just seven minutes into the second half for what proved to be the game-winner. The goal was her team-high ninth of the year.

Delaware made it 2-0 just 12 minutes later when Blood's crossing pass from 10 yards out set up a score by junior Brittany Campbell (Newtown, PA/Notre Dame HS). The goal was Campbell's eighth of the season and team-high 21st of her career.

UNH outshot Delaware 17-14 but Blue Hen goalkeeper Andrea Lunn (Topsfield, MA/Masconomet) posted four saves for her third shutout of the season.

The Hens will play their final regular season game of the season Nov. 3 at Towson.
