NEWARK, DE -- Senior
forward Brittany Campbell and junior forward
Francesca Termini scored second-half goals to propel
the University of Delaware women's soccer team to a 2-0
victory over visiting Lehigh (1-4) Thursday at Delaware
Mini-Stadium.
Campbell opened the scoring in
the 64th minute when she headed in a cross from freshman
Melissa Kunisky to give the Blue Hens a 1-0
lead.
Junior midfielder Caryn
Blood found Termini in front of the net and she buried
her shot into the lower right corner of the net to secure a
home opening win for Delaware (2-2). The Blue Hens are
unbeaten in their home opener each of the last five years
(4-0-1).
Redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Lindsay Shover (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) made her
first career appearance in grand fashion as she had four
saves for the shutout.
The Blue Hens outshot the
Mountain Hawks, 13-7, including 9-2 in the second half, and
held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. Erin Iwaskiewicz had
seven saves in a losing effort for Lehigh.
The Blue Hens hit the road to
take on Mt. St. Mary's on Saturday at 12 noon.
