Five different goal scorers lead Delaware over Mt. St. Mary's
EMMITSBURG, MD -- Junior midfielder Caryn Blood (Red Bank, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) scored a pair of goals to lead the University of Delaware women's soccer team to a 6-1 rout of Mt. St. Mary's on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Hens opened the scoring when junior forward Francesca Termini chipped a corner kick in front of the net to junior Ginna Lewing. Lewing found senior forward Brittany Campbell and she beat Mount goalkeeper Naomi Campano to the bottom right corner to give Delaware a 1-0 lead at 12:10 of the first half. Termini added another goal at 14:38, while Blood continued the Hens scoring trend when she found the back of the net at 51:07 to put Delaware up 3-0. Mt. St. Mary's (1-4-1) broke through with a goal to cut the lead to 3-1, but Blood was tripped up in the penalty box, setting up a successful penalty kick at 63:20 to regain their three goal cushion at 4-1. Junior Shannon White and freshman Erin Veenstra each tallied their first career goals late in the second half to cap the scoring for Delaware (3-2). Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Lindsay Shover got her second straight start between the pipes, making one save. Junior Andrea Lunn replaced her early in the second half and stopped one shot. The Blue Hens outshot Mt. St. Mary's, 29-6, including 13-1 in the first half, and held a 11-1 advantage in corner kicks. Campano and Margaret Pyzik combined for seven saves in a losing effort for the Mount. The Blue Hens host UMBC on Friday at Delaware Mini-Stadium at 7 pm. AGATE: Delaware................2...4...-
