Delaware scores
twice in second half to upend visiting Old Dominion, 2-0, in
CAA Women's Soccer Action
NEWARK, DE -
Francesca Termini and Maria Pollaro scored five
minutes apart in the second half to lead Delaware to a 2-0
win over visiting Old Dominion in a Colonial Athletic
Association women's soccer game Friday night at Delaware
Mini-Stadium.
After a scoreless first half,
Termini put Delaware on the scoreboard first when she put
her shot into the lower left-corner from 10-yards out at
50:51.
Pollaro gave the Blue Hens
some breathing room when she dribbled pass three Monarch
defenders, turned and fired a shot into the left side of the
net at 55:52.
Delaware has scored all but
three of their 22 goals this season in the second
half.
Lindsay Shover made
three saves in net to pick up her fifth shutout of the
season, and third in CAA action.
Kristen Baily stopped five
shots in a losing effort for Old Dominion (5-10-1, 2-4-1
CAA).
The Blue Hens outshot the
Monarchs, 13-6, and held a 6-1 advantage in corner
kicks.
Delaware (8-6-1, 3-2-1 CAA)
returns to action Sunday when it hosts Colonial Athletic
Association rival and first-place William & Mary at 1
p.m.
