Blue Hens score
four unanswered goals to upend St. Francis
NEWARK, DE -- The
University of Delaware women's soccer team scored four
unanswered goals in the second-half to upend visiting St.
Francis (PA) 4-2 Wednesday night at Delaware
Mini-Stadium.
The Hens' trailed 1-0, when
junior forward Francesca Termini gathered a pass from
Caryn Blood, and she buried her shot into the back of
the net to tie the game 1-1.
Junior midfielder Trisha
Breault tapped in a crossing pass from Blood at 66:38 to
put Delaware ahead 2-1. Freshman midfielder Mary Beth
Creed (Owings Mills, MD/McDonogh) followed with her
first collegiate goal, which ended up being the game-winner,
at 73:04 to put the Blue Hens up 3-1.
Senior Maria Pollaro
scored off a pass from Blood to cap the scoring for Delaware
at 74:59. Blood dished out three assists in the
match.
Meghan Pearson gave St.
Francis the lead in the first-half when she put her shot
into the upper-right corner in the 37th minute.
Blue Hen junior goalkeeper
Andrea Lunn made two saves in a winning effort, while
Allison Tidball hauled in 10 saves. Seven of the saves came
on Delaware's first seven shots.
Delaware outshot the Red Flash
21-5.
The Blue Hens (4-3) return to
action on Sunday when they host Towson in their Colonial
Athletic Association debut at Delaware Mini-Stadium at 1
p.m.
