NEWARK, DE -- Freshman
midfielder Mary Beth Creed scored the game-winning
goal at 76:02 to give the University of Delaware women's
soccer team a 1-0 victory over Towson Sunday afternoon at
Delaware Mini-Stadium.
The win gives Delaware (5-3,
1-0 CAA) its first conference win as a member of the
Colonial Athletic Association. Towson, which also began play
in the CAA this season, fell to 4-5-1 overall, and 0-2 in
the conference.
Blue Hen junior goalkeeper
Andrea Lunn was outstanding again in net, making six
saves for her first shutout of the season, and fifth of her
career. Tigers goalkeeper Yasmin Alter stopped eight shots
in a losing effort.
Junior forward Francesca
Termini led the Delaware attack with five shots on goal,
including one that caromed off the crossbar late in the
second half that would have iced it for the Hens.
The Blue Hens return to action
on Friday when they play host to conference rival UNC
Wilmington at Delaware Mini-Stadium at 7 p.m.
