Blue Hens fall 1-0
to UMBC
NEWARK, DE --
Missy Moore scored in the 47th minute to lift the UMBC
women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over the University of
Delaware on Friday night at Delaware
Mini-Stadium.
Moore
one-timed a pass from Lori Quintavalle to the right of Blue
Hen junior goalkeeper Andrea Lunn, for the
game-winning goal at 46:48.
Junior forward
Francesca Termini led the Delaware attack with six
shots, including a break away midway through the first half,
that was stopped by UMBC goalkeeper Robin
Babaris.
Babaris had
two saves to notch the shutout for UMBC (2-4), while Lunn
had five saves for Delaware in a losing effort.
Delaware
outshot the Retrievers 13-9, and had a 13-1 advantage in
corner kicks.
The Blue Hens
(3-3) return to action on Wednesday when they host St.
Francis (Pa.) at Delaware Mini-Stadium at 6 p.m.
