Vanderspiegel scored in the 41st minute to give first-place
William & Mary a 1-0 victory over Delaware in a Colonial
Athletic Association women's soccer match Sunday at Delaware
Mini-Stadium.
Vanderspiegel connected on a
free-kick from 19-yards, lofting her shot into the upper
left-corner for the game-winning goal at 40:33.
Lindsay Shover made
three saves for the Blue Hens in a losing effort.
Nikki Villott stopped three
shots to pick up a shutout win for William & Mary
(12-4-1, 8-0 CAA).
The Blue Hens outshot the
Tribe, 7-6, and held a 4-3 advantage in corner
kicks.
Delaware (8-7-1, 3-3-1 CAA)
returns to action Friday when they visit Colonial Athletic
Association rival Drexel at 2:30 p.m.
