Help Delaware Defeat Stony Brook 2-1 at
Navy Tournament

ANNAPOLIS,
MD -- Freshman forwards Lindsay
Boyd (Abington, PA/Abington) and Alli
D'Amico (Manasquan, NJ/Red Bank Catholic)
each scored a goal to lead the University
of Delaware women's soccer team to a 2-1
victory over Stony Brook Friday afternoon
in the opening match of the Naval Academy
Tournament.
The
Blue Hens, who improved to 2-1-2 on the
season, struck first 14:23 into the match
when Boyd converted a cross by junior
defender Melissa Kunisky (Grantville,
PA/Lower Dauphin). D'Amico added an
insurance goal at the 52:01 mark by
scoring her first career goal of assists
from junior midfielders Mary Beth Creed
(Owings Mills, MD/McDonogh) and Jennifer
Krepps (Lansdale, PA/North
Penn).
Delaware
carried its two-goal advantage until the
final minute, as Victoria Feliciano was
taken down in the box and converted the
ensuing penalty kick with just 45 seconds
remaining.
Blue
Hen junior goalkeeper Lindsay Shover
(Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) posted two
saves in the Delaware goal while Cindy
Bennett stopped seven shots for the Sea
Wolves, who fell to 1-2-1 on the
year.
The
Blue Hens will return to action on Sunday
afternoon when they take on Bowling Green
on the second day of the Navy Tournament.
Game time is set for 12 noon.
