Delaware Falls to George Mason, 2-0

FAIRFAX, VA (October 30, 2004)--Two second half goals allowed George Mason to claim a 2-0 win over the University of Delaware women's soccer team on Saturday night in Colonial Athletic Association action. The loss was the second straight for the Blue Hens (9-6-3, 4-4-1 CAA) and ends their 2004 season.

After a scoreless first half, George Mason (10-6-3, 5-2-2 CAA) got on the board with a goal from Amy Alecci. Alecci's goal came 14:54 into the second stanza as she went one on one with the Delaware defender from 10 yards out for the goal.

The Patriots added an insurance goal less than a minute later as Danielle MacDonald took an L.J. Williams pass and knocked the ball into the top left corner.

Delaware had seven shots on goal for the game, as both Kendall Lytwynec (Newark, DE/ Newark-at right) and Shelby Lawrence (Columbus, OH/ St. Francis DeSales) registered shots on goal but were unable to connect.

Bonnie Mills (Bear, DE/ Caravel Academy) made nine saves in goal for the Blue Hens while Sarah Coughlin and Olivia Brown split the time in goal for George Mason each making one save.

Delaware finishes its season with a 9-6-3 record, 4-4-1 in the CAA. The Blue Hens lose two seniors from this year's squad and return all five of their leading scorers next year.
