Falls to Hofstra 2-1
HEMPSTEAD,
NY (October 1, 2004)-- Hofstra's Emma
Kilduff scored with 15 minutes to go as
the Pride defeated the University of
Delaware women's soccer team 2-1 in
Colonial Athletic Association action on
Friday night in Hempstead, NY.
The Blue
Hens (5-3-3, 0-2-1 CAA) got things off to
a good start in this one as freshman
Lindsay Boyd (Abington, PA/ Abington)
scored off a corner kick from junior
Melissa Kunisky (Grantville, PA/ Lower
Dauphin) just 1:28 into the
game.
Hofstra
got the equalizer 19 minutes in as Elyse
Bizzozzaro scored off a flick over the
keeper's head from 15 yards out.
Bizzozzaro's goal was assisted by Nina
Nanavrakis.
Kilduff's
goal in the second half was unassisted and
came off a direct kick from 25 yards
out.
Lindsey
Shover (Lancaster, PA/ Penn Manor) played
the first half in goal for the Blue Hens,
making five saves and allowing one goal.
Bonnie Mills (Bear, DE/ Caravel Academy)
played the entire second half, also making
five saves and allowing one goal. Becky
Wachsberger made two saves for the Pride
while allowing the one goal. Hofstra
outshot the Blue Hens, 16-11, for the
match.
Delaware
returns to action on Sunday afternoon when
the Blue Hens take on Drexel University at
1 p.m.
