Falls to Northern Colorado,
2-1
LARAMIE,
WY (September 5, 2004)-- The University of
Delaware women's soccer team fell 2-1 to
Northern Colorado on Sunday afternoon in
day two of the University of Wyoming
Tournament.
Northern
Colorado wasted little time in this one as
Kerry Pitt drove one home off a free kick
to give her team the early lead, just 46
seconds into the game. Cassie Sadusky
padded that lead with a goal at 11:17.
Northern Colorado (1-3) outshot the Blue
Hens (1-1-2) 8-4 in the first
half.
Delaware
finally got on the board in the second
half as a pair of freshman connected for
the goal. Lindsay Boyd (Abington, PA/
Abington) scored the first goal of her
collegiate career off a pass from Alli
D'Amico (Manasquan, NJ/ Red Bank
Catholic). That was all the Blue Hens
would get in this one, as Delaware was
handed their first loss of the season by
Northern Colorado.
Sophomore
Bonnie Mills (Bear, DE/ Caravel Academy)
got her first start of the year in goal
and made five saves. Northern Colorado's
Chrissy Marvin also recorded five saves in
net. Northern Colorado outshot the Blue
Hens 15-12.
Delaware's
Shannon Alger and Lindsay Boyd were both
named to the all-tournament
team.
The Blue
Hens will return to action on Friday
afternoon when they take on Stony Brook in
the first game of the Navy Tournament.
Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
