Battles Old Dominion to 0-0 Tie in

NEWARK, DE
(September 26, 2004)-- Despite playing 110
minutes of action, neither team was able
to find the back of the net as Delaware
battled Old Dominion to a 0-0 tie in
double overtime on Sunday afternoon, in
women's soccer at Delaware Mini-Stadium.
Junior Lindsey Shover (Lancaster, PA/ Penn
Manor-at right) was several key saves in
goal to keep Delaware(5-2-3, 0-1-1CAA) in
the game.
The Blue
Hens and Monarchs battled to fairly even
first half in this one, as there were only
three shots on goal. Delaware's best
chance in regulation came off the foot of
junior defender Melissa Kunisky
(Grantville, PA/ Lower Dauphin) who
followed the play up field and put the
ball squarely on net. Old Dominion's
Stephanie Miller turned Kunisky's shot
away and the game proceeded to overtime.
The Monarchs outshot the Blue Hens 5-4 in
regulation.
Laura
Beeman may have had the best opportunity
in the extra session for Old Dominion as
she had not one but but two good shots.
The first hit the top crossbar and Shover
was able to corral the ball while the
second sailed just wide.
Shover
made three saves while Miller was forced
to make four. Delaware outshot Old
Dominion 10-9 for the game.
Delaware
takes to the road for three straight
games, starting with Friday, October 1.
The Blue Hens will travel to Hofstra for a
CAA contest with game time set for 7
p.m.
