NEWARK,
DE-- The University of Delaware women's
soccer team battled hard all afternoon but
were unable to find the back of the net
and the Blue Hens and Seton Hall settled
for a 0-0 tie on Sunday afternoon at
Delaware Mini-Stadium.
The
Fightin' Blue Hens (1-0-1) may have had
their two best opportunities in the first
half. Junior Allison Kendro (St. David's
PA/ Episcopal Academy) had a shot sail
just over the top of the net late in the
first half. Shannon Alger (Hopatcong, NJ/
Morris Catholic) put one on net that
Amanda Becker of Seton Hall (1-0-1) was
just able to get her hands on. In the
first half, Delaware outshot the Pirates
6-3.
The second
half saw both teams have chances but no
one was able to capitalize on their
opportunities. Regulation ended in a 0-0
tie, and for the second straight game the
Blue Hens were headed to
overtime.
In the
extra session, Delaware outshot Seton Hall
2-1 but neither team could capitalize.
In goal,
Delaware's Lindsay Shover (Lancaster, PA/
Penn Manor-at right) made four saves while
Becker was forced to make six. For the
game, the Blue Hens outshot the Pirates by
a 10-7 margin.
Delaware
returns to action on Friday when it
travels to the University of Wyoming
Tournament and take on the hosts at 4:00
p.m.
