Hat Trick Spurs Delaware to 3-0 Win at
Temple

Kendro's (St. David's PA/ Episcopal
Academy - at right) hat trick gave
the University of Delaware women's soccer
team a 3-0 win over Temple on Sunday
afternoon. The win is the fourth straight
for the Blue Hens (5-1-2) and their third
straight shutout.
Kendro got
things started in this one as she took a
ball down the right side and scored 20
minutes into the game. Delaware outshot
its hosts, 10-2, in the first
half.
Two and a
half minutes into the second half Kendro
notched her second goal of the game, this
time off a pass from fellow junior Mary
Beth Creed (Owings Mills, MD/ McDonogh).
Kendro finished out her afternoon with a
goal 31 minutes to go in the game by
taking a pass from junior defender Melissa
Kunisky (Grantville, PA/ Lower
Dauphin).
Kendro is
the seventh player in school history to
record a hat trick and the first since
Brittany Campbell recorded the feat in
2000, also against Temple.
Lindsey
Shover (Lancaster, PA/ Penn Manor) started
the game in goal for the Blue Hens and
made three saves in 70 minutes of action.
Bonnie Mills (Bear, DE/ Caravel) came in
to finish off the shutout and was not
forced to make a save. Temple's Jackie
Mauro made 11 saves in 70 minutes of
action while allowing the three goals.
Elizabeth Tarasevich made two saves in her
20 minutes of action for the Owls.
Delaware out shot the Owls, 23-5, for the
game.
The Blue
Hens will return to action on Friday,
September 24. Delaware will open its
Colonial Athletic Association schedule
when the Blue Hens play host to defending
CAA champion William & Mary at 7 p.m.
at Delaware Mini-Stadium.
