Delaware and Wyoming Battle To 1-1 Tie

WYOMING, CO-- The University of Delaware women's soccer team battled Wyoming to a 1-1 tie in double overtime on Friday night in Laramie Wyoming.

The Blue Hens (1-0-2) got on the board with approximately 10 minutes to go until the half, as junior Shannon Alger (Hopatcong, NJ/ Morris Catholic) scored an unassisted goal for the early lead.

The two teams battled back and forth until the Cowgirls' Mercy Adetoye scored off a pass from Andrea Soltau to tie the game up. Adetoye's goal came with approximately 15 minutes to go in regulation.

In the extra sessions, both teams had their chances but neither was able to convert and the game ended in a deadlock.

In the game, Blue Hen keeper, Lindsay Shover (Lancaster, PA/ Penn Manor) made seven saves, while Wyoming's Ashley Sheppard made four saves. Wyoming outshot Delaware 20-10.

Delaware returns to action on Sunday afternoon when they take on Northern Colorado. Game time in Laramie is set for 11:30am.
