WILLIAMSBURG, VA -- The University of Delaware women's soccer team couldn't sustain its momentum after Friday's upset win over Old Dominion, as the Hens gave up 30 shots in a 2-1 loss at William and Mary on Sunday afternoon.

Neither team could find the net in the first half, when the Tribe fired 16 shots to Delaware's three. Sophomore keeper E.J. Goldman kept the Hens afloat with five saves before intermision, but she couldn't stop William and Mary forward Claire Zimmeck's header in the 63rd minute. Zimmeck, the 2006 CAA Player of the Year, redirected a corner kick into the left side of the goal to give the Tribe a 1-0 lead.

Danielle Collins provided some insurance at the 70:56 mark, when she headed a Meredith Brown corner kick just inside the post to double the William and Mary edge. Delaware forward Caitlyn Germain (right) answered with a penalty kick goal - her second in as many games - just five minutes later, but the Hens couldn't equalize in the final 15 minutes.

Germain's goal was her fourth of the year, good for second on the team.

The Blue Hens fell to 0-6-2 all-time against William and Mary, ranked No. 6 in the Middle Atlantic region in the latest NSCAA/adidas poll.

The loss dropped Delaware to 5-4 (1-1 CAA), while William and Mary (7-3, 2-0 CAA) won its sixth out of seven.

The Tribe's 30 shots were the most Delaware has surrendered this season. William and Mary also earned eight corner kicks on the day, while Goldman collected seven saves for the Blue Hens.

Delaware returns to action on October 5, when the Hens host Virginia Commonwealth in their CAA home opener.
