ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The University of Delaware women's soccer team played Central Connecticut State to a scoreless tie on Friday afternoon in the first game of the Navy Tournament in Annapolis.
In the two ten-minute overtime periods, Delaware outshot CCSU 5-0, and took three corner kicks, but could not seem to ever find the net.
The Blue Hens outshot the Blue Devils 20-18 on the day, with both teams putting eight shots on goal.
Delaware's freshman goalkeeper Breanna Stemler had a big day, making eight saves to preserve a shutout in her career debut, including a save on a penalty shot from CCSU's Leah Blaney with under 20 minutes left in regulation.
Senior Caitlyn Germain, sophomore Amy Pickard (at right) and freshman Stacie Dulkis each took four shots for the Hens.
The Hens' best scoring chances came on a shot from midfielder Dana Rodgers that hit the crossbar in the seventh minute of play, and then with seven minutes left in the second overtime, when Caitlyn Germain's shot hit the post.
