athlete photoRICHMOND, Va.– University of Delaware junior forward Caitlyn Germain (at right) was selected to the pre-season All-Colonial Athletic Association women's soccer team Tuesday afternoon in a vote by the league head coaches.

Germain scored seven goals last season en-route to a 2007 All-CAA second team selection and was also a CAA All-Rookie team selection in 2005. She was the only Blue Hen player selected to the pre-season team.

Joining her in the voting at forward were William & Mary’s pre-season Player of the Year Claire Zimmeck, James Madison sophomore Cate Tisinger and Old Dominion senior Katie Watson.

Zimmeck, a senior, has earned CAA women’s soccer Player of the Year honors the past two seasons. Zimmeck received third team All-America accolades from the NSCAA and Soccer Buzz in 2007 and was also a semifinalist for the Hermann Trophy, which is awarded to the nation’s top collegiate player.

Tisinger was the 2007 CAA Rookie of the Year and an All-CAA second team pick following a nine goal, 10 assists season.

The four pre-season All-CAA midfielders were each named to the All-CAA first team in 2007 - William & Mary senior Dani Collins, James Madison senior Kim Germain, Hofstra senior Edel Malone and UNC Wilmington senior Kelly Renkin.

Voted to the all-conference squad on defense were Hofstra senior Marie Curtin, William & Mary sophomore Kaitlin O’Connor, VCU senior Samara Stephen-Dowd and James Madison junior Caitlin Walko. The goalkeeper was Wiliam & Mary senior Meghan Walker.

Delaware, which posted a record of 8-10 a year ago, will open the 2008 season Aug. 29-31 when the Blue Hens host Towson, Lafayette, and St. John's in the annual Blue Hen Classic at the Delaware Mini-Stadium.
