NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware women’s soccer squad will take part in five scrimmage during the spring practice season, including home matches vs. Saint Joseph’s, La Salle, Navy, and Pennsylvania, head coach Scott Grzenda has announced.
Delaware finished the 2007 season with a record of 8-10 and finished eighth in the Colonial Athletic Association with a mark of 4-7. Grzenda, the only coach in history, will begin his 19th season this fall.
He welcomes back nine starters from last year’s squad, including top two returning scorers Amy Pickard (eight goals) and Caitlyn Germain (seven goals; pictured at right). Both players earned All-CAA honors a year ago.
Delaware will open the spring scrimmage schedule Friday, Apr. 11 when the Blue Hens host Saint Joseph’s at 7:30 p.m. at the Delaware Mini Stadium.
Games will follow on Apr. 15 at Lehigh at 5:30 p.m.; Apr. 18 at home vs. La Salle at 5 p.m., Apr. 23 at Temple at 5 p.m., and Apr. 25 at home vs. Navy and Pennsylvania in tri-match at 6 p.m.
