WILMINGTON, N.C. – The University of Delaware women’s soccer team suffered its second road loss of the weekend Sunday afternoon as the University of North Carolina Wilmington’s Erin Pardini scored the game’s only goal with just over six minutes left in regulation to win an important Colonial Athletic Association game in the six-team playoff hunt.

With the loss, the Blue Hens fell to 6-10-1, 3-7 CAA as the Seahawks improved to 11-6-1, 7-3 CAA.

UNCW took 20 shots to Delaware’s seven, and the Seahawks took seven corners to just one by the Blue Hens.

The game was scoreless until through 82 minutes of play, as Blue Hen goalkeeper Breanna Stemler (at right) made nine saves and Seahawk goalkeeper made four.

Pardini would eventually beat Stemler to the right corner of the net on a ball played by Sara Matthews from the right side into the center of the box. Maddy Bullington was also credited with an assist on the play.

Delaware could not score an equalizer in the final 7:37 of regulation, and the Seahawks hung on 1-0. This is the seventh time this year Delaware suffered a one-goal loss.
