NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The University of Delaware women’s soccer team dropped game three of the Yale Soccer Classic to the host Bulldogs, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at Reese Stadium.

The Blue Hens, who scored five goals Friday night against Sacred Heart in the tournament’s opening game, only managed to take two shots on the day as they were shut-out by Yale goalkeepers Ayana Sumiyasu and Adelaide Gay.

Delaware goalkeeper Annie Bevan saved 10 shots for the Hens and allowed three goals.

The first Yale goal came in the 23rd minute of play from Leslie Perez. She was assisted by Becky Brown and Maggie Westfal.

Neither team would score for the remainder of the first half, and the Bulldogs lead 1-0 at the break.

A little over 20 minutes into the second half, Yale would score two goals within a minute of each other. First, Becky Brown assisted Maggie Westfal for the Bulldogs’ second goal, and Westfal assisted Emma Whitfield to put Yale up 3-0.

With the loss, Delaware fell to 3-2-1 as Yale improved to 3-2.

The Hens’ team MVP’s for the tournament were Stacie Dulkis (offensive) and Dana Rodgers (defensive). Dulkis scored two goals against Sacred Heart in the opening game of the tournament, and Rodgers (at right) helped the Hens hold SHU to just one goal.

The Blue Hens will travel to Philadelphia on Friday to take on Saint Joseph’s at 7 p.m.
