NORFOLK, Va. -- The University of Delaware women’s soccer team battled through 110 minutes of action to a 0-0 tie, as the Hens held off a strong Old Dominion University offense at the Old Dominion Soccer Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Delaware (4-3-3 overall, 1-1-2 CAA) was outshot in each of the four periods by Old Dominion (5-5-3 overall, 1-1-2 CAA), though Hens’ senior Annie Bevan, made six saves in goal to keep the Lady Monarchs off the scoreboard.

In the Hens’ third draw of the season, second of Colonial Athletic Association action, each team played 16 bodies; however, neither offense was able to make a dent in the opposing goal coverage.

The goalkeepers and their supporting defenses garnered all honors in the deadlock. Seniors Ilyssa Friedman and Megan Delaney, junior Morgan Warrington, sophomore Laura Klebe, and freshman Taylor Thompson supported Bevan (at right) in the backfield.

The Hens’ security held the Lady Monarchs to only six shots on goal. Bevan once again lived up to the reputation that has earned her 10 starts this season, as she saved each of the shots laced her way.

The Blue and Gold’s offense was limited, as it fired only seven shots throughout the periods of play. Senior Caitlyn Germain and sophomores Stacie Dulkis and Stephanie Rinschler each booted shots at the keeper. ODU’s Bri Alvarado made saves on each of the Hens’ shots on goal to tally three for the home squad.

The Lady Monarchs recorded fives corner kicks to Delaware’s one, while UD committed 10 fouls throughout the action to ODU’s eight.

Delaware will return to Colonial Athletic Association action on Friday, Oct. 9 when it hosts James Madison for a 7 p.m. match.
