EASTON, PA – The University of Delaware men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams swept a non-league meet over host Lafayette College Wednesday afternoon.

Both Blue Hen teams improved to 3-1 before the Christmas break as the men posted a 137-106 victory over Lafayette (5-2) and the UD women won 132-111 over the Leopards (3-4). After a week of training in Florida Dec. 18-24, the Blue Hens will return to dual meet action Jan. 15 vs. Georgetown.

In the men’s race, Delaware junior Luke Schenck (Cathedral Prep/Erie, PA) won two events, capturing the 500 freestyle (4:51.40) and the 1,000 freestyle (9:54.64). Other Delaware winners were Bryan Kahner (Jericho, NY HS) in the 200 freestyle (1:47.16), Ian Miller (Dover, PA HS) in the 50 freestyle (22.23), Brian Aston (Cheshire, CT HS) in the one-meter dive (275.1 points), and Tom Maday (Lexington Park/Great Mills, MD) in the 200 breaststroke (2:11.89). The Hens also won the 400 freestyle relay event.

 In the women’s race, senior diver Tanya Mainville (Cheshire, CT HS) and sophomore Jennifer Haus (St. Mark’s/Newark, DE ) each won two events for the Hens. Mainville won the both the one and three-meter diving events while Haus captured the 100 and 200 freestyle and swam a leg of the winning 400 medley relay team.

 Other winners for the Blue Hens were freshman Lindsay Dellavalle (Hunterdon Central/Flemington, NJ) in the 200 butterfly, Lisa Dillinger in the 200 backstroke, and Sara Dyson in the 200 breaststroke. Dillinger and Dyson also teamed with Haus and Kathryn Fryer on the winning 400 medley relay team.
