WASHINGTON - The University of Delaware men's and women's swimming and diving teams split their non-league meet against host American University Friday afternoon.

The Blue Hen men (5-5) defeated American 123-114 while the American women downed Delaware (5-5) by a 129-107 score.

In the men's race, American won nine of the 11 races but the Blue Hens used depth to post their second straight dual meet victory. Posting wins for the Blue Hens were the 400 Freestyle relay (3:17.00) and Mike Zambarano in the 50 freestyle (22.06). American was led by Frank Byskov and Eric Alda who both won three events.

Picking up second place finishes for the Hens were Ryan Fauth in 200 individual medley (2:00.11), Tom Maday in the 200 breaststroke (2:11.45), Zambarano in the 100 freestyle (49.02), Jim Reichart in the 500 freestyle (10:00.54), and Luke Schenck in the 200 freestyle (1:48.19).

American won 10 of the 11 races in the women's meet led by three victories from Rebecca Santos.

Delaware received its only win in the 200 breaststroke where Sara Dyson swam to a winning time of 2:29.52. Taking seconds for the Hens were Amanda Stouffer in the 50 freestyle (25.58) and 100 freestyle (56.29), Kelly Schubert in the 1,000 freestyle (11:01.52), Jennifer Haus in the 200 freestyle (1:58.04) and 500 freestyle (5:09.64), Kathryn Fryer in the 200 butterfly (2:15.82), and Amy Spooner in the 200 individual medley (2:16.44).
