NEWARK, DE -- University of Delaware men’s and women’s swimming and diving head coach John Hayman has announced his team’s 2007-08 schedule highlighted by the Blue Hens hosting six events at the Harry Rawstrom Natatorium at Carpenter Sports Building.

Hayman, who enters his 19th season at the helm of both teams, has scheduled six home events, including the Blue-Gold Intrasquad scrimmage and an Alumni exhibition meet to open the season.

The Blue-Gold Intrasquad meet will be held Saturday, Oct. 6 at 11 a.m. and the Alumni meet will be held Friday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. as part of University of Delaware Homecoming activities.

The Blue Hens will open the regular season Oct. 20 at Colonial Athletic Association rival George Mason followed by the home opener Oct. 27 at Georgetown and a CAA three-way meet at Northeastern with Old Dominion Nov. 3-4 in Boston. Delaware will the close out the fall semester with a home tri-meet vs. Drexel and Vermont Nov. 10, a non-league tri-meet at LaSalle with Rider on Nov. 17, and competition at the H2Ounds Invitational hosted by Loyola College in Baltimore on Nov. 30-Dec. 1.

The team will take a month break for exams and holiday break before returning to action Jan. 5 at home vs. Towson. Delaware will then close out the regular season Jan. 12 at James Madison (women’s team only), Jan. 19 at home vs. Widener, and Feb. 2 at William & Mary.

The annual CAA Championships will once again be held at McKay Natatorium on the campus of George Mason Feb. 27 through March 1.

The Delaware women placed fifth at the CAA championships for the second straight season last winter while the Blue Hen men finished eighth for the second straight year. Delaware junior Maryann Walker (at right) is the CAA defending women’s 200 backstroke champion. Senior Andrew Zinn leads the UD men.
