RICHMOND, Va. – Junior standout Donna Healy has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Women’s Swimmer of the Week after leading the University of Delaware to a pair of victories last weekend.
During the Blue Hens’ meet against LaSalle and Rider, Healy won three events while leading the squad to wins over the Explorers and Broncs. She captured the title in both sprint freestyles and returned to help guide the 400-freestyle relay team to a victory as well.
In the 50-freestyle, Healy cruised to the title with a season-best time of 24.66. She followed up that performance with her finest showing in the 100-free after touching the wall in 53.12. That time also marked the fastest on the team this season.
Healy wrapped up the meet with another win after anchoring the victorious 400-freestyle relay squad. Along with Courtney Raw, Erinne Butler, and Kristen McBrien, she guided the foursome to a winning time of 3:34.59.
During the meet, Healy also was the top Delaware finisher in the 200-freestyle after placing second with a time of 1:55.40.
Healy is the first Blue Hen to earn the women’s weekly honor this season. Cortney Barry was the last to receive the award after being honored twice last year.
Along with Healy, the CAA honored Drexel’s Megan Halicek as the women’s Diver of the Week. On the men’s side, Towson’s Devin Kirby was named the Swimmer of the Week, while Drexel’s Ian Jevnick earned the top diving honor.
Healy and the Hens will return to action on December 4-5 for the Loyola College H2Ounds Invitational.
