Kamen, Greenstein Highlight Record-Setting Finale for Hens

NEWARK, DE -- Seniors Erin Kamen and Karen Greenstein highlighted a record-setting season finale for the University of Delaware women's tennis team Thursday afternoon as the Blue Hens defeated Bucknell 7-2 at the Delaware Field House Courts.

The Blue Hens, the America East runner-up last week at the league championships, closed out the 1999-2000 season with a record of 15-5, the team's ninth straight .500 or better season.

Kamen, a senior from Lake Forest, IL (Central Bucks East HS, Pa.), became Delaware's all-time winningest singles player with 6-1, 6-2 victory over Tracy Honko at the No. 4 spot. Kamen improved her record to a team-best 16-4 this season and broke the all-time University of Delaware singles win record with her 74th victory. Kamen, now 74-13 during her career, broke the mark of 73-12 held by current Delaware head coach Laura (LeRoy) Travis in 1985-89.

It was also a record-setting day for Greenstein, a senior from New Rochelle, NY (New Rochelle HS) who defeated Ibby Cizmar 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and teamed with Martine Street for an 8-3 win over Bucknell's Jill Wurzburg and Laura Maisel at No. 2 doubles.

Greenstein improved to 12-8 at singles this season and upped her career singles record to 62-24 to rank fourth all-time at Delaware. Her doubles win gave her a career record of 56-18 doubles, tying the Delaware record of 56-7 set by Rebecca Fearins in 1993-98.

The Blue Hens also got singles victories from Kristin Wasniewski at No. 2 and Tracy Guerin at No. 5 singles to post the victory.

Bucknell was led by Kerry Callaghan who downed Elly Giese 6-4, 7-5 at the No. 1 singles spot then teamed with Honko for a 9-7 win at No. 1 doubles.
