Blue Hen Women Run
League Win Streak to 28
NEWARK, DE -- Delaware and Hofstra
traded shutout tennis victories Friday, the Blue Hens
winning the women's match by a 9-0 score, while the Dutchmen
won the men's match, 7-0, on the University of Delaware
campus.
The Delaware women have now won 28
straight regular season matches vs. America East opponents
dating back to 1992. The Blue Hens are 6-0 vs. Hofstra
all-time and snapped a three-match losing streak in raising
their record to 10-4 on the season.
At No. 4 singles, Erin Kamen
picked up her 69th career singles' victory, just four shy of
the UD mark held by current coach Laura Travis. Other
Delaware winners were Elly Giese at No. 1, Kristin
Wasniewski at No. 2, Karen Greenstein at No. 3,
Jessica Wilkes at No. 5, and Martine Street at
No. 6. Street (9-1)won her ninth straight match for the
Hens.
Hofstra captured all six singles matches
and swept the three doubles competitions to drop the Blue
Hens' record to 10-11 on the season.
The Blue Hens will host Drexel in another
doubleheader Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.
