Delaware vs. Lafayette Sept. 29, 1998 at 3:30 p.m. W 8-1
The University of Delaware women's tennis team
swept singles play for the second straight match
and Kristin Wasniewski set a school record
for consecutive singles wins as the Blue Hens
downed Lafayette 8-1 in non-league action Tuesday
at the Delaware Field House Courts. The UD women
improved to 2-0 on the season and won their 44th
match in the last 45 outings since 1995. Wasniewski
(Archmere HS) downed Lafayette's Meghan Rowe 6-1,
6-0 to win her 20th straight match, breaking the
record of 19 set by Cindy Pilipczuk and
Lisa Fry in 1996. Lafayette fell to 2-3.
Also picking up singles wins for the Hens were
Karen Greenstein, Tracy Guerin, Erin Kamen, Elly
Giese, and Martine Street. In doubles
play, the No. 1 Delaware team of Wasniewski and
Rachel Dencker and the No. 2 team of Guerin
and Greenstein also won.
