University of Delaware sophomore Kristin
Wasniewski posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Erica
Feinman at No. 1 singles to earn her school record
tying 19th straight victory and lead the Blue Hens
to a 9-0 season-opening women's tennis victory over
Lehigh Sunday at the Delaware Field House Courts.
Wasniewski, a graduate of nearby Archmere Academy
who played at No. 6 singles as a freshman, improved
her two-year record to 19-0 at Delaware and tied
the school record of 19 straight wins by Lisa Fry
and Cindy Pilipczuk in 1996. The Hens, coming off a
17-1 season in 1997, have now won 43 of their last
44 matches since 1995 under head coach Laura
Travis, including 27 by shutout. Also posting
singles victories for the Blue Hens were Karen
Greenstein at No. 2, Tracy Guerin at No.
3, Erin Kamen at No. 4, Elly Giese at
No. 5, and Martine Street at No. 6. The Hens
also swept the three doubles matches.
