North-South Rumble at New Hampshire Delaware vs. New Hampshire Oct. 3, 1998 at 3:00 p.m. W 8-1
The University of Delaware women's tennis
remained unbeaten, defeating host New Hampshire 8-1
in the second day of the UNH North-South Rumble
Saturday afternoon. The Blue Hens (4-0), who downed
Hartford 8-1 in the first round Friday, close out
play today (Sunday) vs. Vermont at 9 a.m. The Hens
won five of the six singles matches with the lone
loss coming at the No. 1 spot where sophomore
Kristin Wasniewski (Archmere) lost the first
match of her career, falling to Kim LaDonne, 7-6,
7-5. Wasniewski had won a record 21 straight
matches. Picking up singles victories for the Hens
were Karen Greenstein at No. 2, Tracy
Guerin at No. 3, Erin Kamen at No. 4,
Elly Giese at No. 5, and Rachel Dencker
(Concord HS) at No. 6. Dencker won her 15th
straight match since last season. In doubles,
Wasniewski and Dencker teamed for a win at No. 1,
improving their career record together to 23-1.
