BURLINGTON, VT -- The No. 2 seed University of Delaware cruised to an 8-1 win over No. 7 seed Hofstra University in the opening round of the America East Women's Tennis Championships Friday afternoon at the University of Vermont.

The Blue Hens (16-8) increased their winning streak to six matches by capturing all six singles matches in straight sets. Delaware will play No. 3 seed New Hampshire, a first round 7-2 winner over Vermont, Saturday at 6 p.m. in the semifinals.

No. 1 seed Boston University, a 9-0 winner over No. 8 Hartford, and No. 4 Towson, a 5-4 winner over No. 5 Drexel, will meet in Saturday's other semifinal at 3 p.m. The two semifinal winners will meet for the title Sunday with the winner earning an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
