Hens Down Bison for
Fourth Straight Year
LEWISBURG, PA -- The University of
Delaware women's tennis team defeated Bucknell University
for the fourth straight year, posting a 5-2 non-league
victory Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Hens improved to 5-3 with their
third straight victory. The Hens will travel to Lafayette
April 24 in their final tune-up before the America East
championships April 27-29 at Yale University in New Haven,
CT.
Bucknell took two of the three doubles
matches to win the doubles point, but Delaware countered by
winning five of the six singles matches, two of them in
three sets, to cruise to the victory.
Posting wins in singles for the Hens were
Elly Giese at No. 1 singles, Jessica Wilkes at No. 2, Anisha
Talati at No. 4, Danielle Wall at No. 5, and Jessica
Quittman at No. 6.
Wall improved to a perfect 7-0 on the
season while Quittman improved to 6-1.
In doubles play, the Hens picked up their
only victory at the No. 3 spot as Talati and Quittman teamed
for an 8-5 win over Bucknell's Jill Wurzburg and Laura
Maisel. Talati and Quittman improved to 7-1 on the
season.
