Delaware Sweeps
Doubles, Takes Five of Six Singles Matches in Straight Sets

NEWARK, DE -- The University
of Delaware men's and women's tennis teams continued their
dominance over rival Drexel University as the Blue Hens
swept the Dragons in Colonial Athletic Association play
Sunday afternoon.
On the women's side, Delaware (6-10, 3-2
CAA) won its third straight match with a 6-1 victory over
Drexel at the Delaware Field House Courts. The Blue Hens
have now downed the Dragons 10 straight times.
The Delaware men (9-6, 3-0 CAA) stayed
unbeaten in league play with a 5-2 win over Drexel at the
Carpenter Sports Building Courts to extend their win streak
to three matches. Delaware has now defeated the Drexel men
41 straight times since 1963.
Both Delaware teams will close out the
CAA regular season this week with the UD men hosting Towson
Monday and the UD women travelling to Towson Tuesday. The
CAA Tournament will be held April 18-21 at Richmond, VA.
In the women's match, Delaware won five
of the six singles matches in straight sets, getting
victories from Elly Giese, Anisha Talati, Martine Street,
Christine Knox, and Beth Principe.
The Hens also swept doubles play behind
wins from Giese and Street at No. 1, Talati and Jessica
Wilkes at No. 2, and Knox and Principe at No.
3.
Knox (11-4) and Principe (9-7) each
extended their singles win streaks to five matches while
Giese (12-7) won her team-best 12th match of the season.
Knox and Principe combined for their third straight doubles
win.
The Blue Hen won four of the six singles
matches and two of the three doubles matchup to earn their
win. Sanjay Khindri, John Tully, Dustin Lewis, and David
Mouber all won singles matches for the Blue Hens while the
doubles teams of Robert Wirth and Ari Zweig and Lee Kennedy
and Mouber were also victorious.
Khindri and Mouber each won their fourth
straight match while Tully (13-6) and Lewis (13-7) each won
their team-high 13th match of the season. Mouber and
Kennedy improved their career doubles record to 24-17,
moving into seventh place all-time at UD.
