Knox Claims Win at No. 4 Singles for Blue Hens

 

NEWARK, DE -- Fordham University captured five of the six singles matches and claimed the doubles point with two victories to post a 6-1 non-league women's tennis victory over host University of Delaware Sunday at the Delaware Field House Courts.

The Blue Hens, playing their second match of the spring season, fell to 3-3 with their third straight loss. Delaware will continue action March 14 at Loyola in Baltimore, MD.

Delaware picked up two victories on the day highlighted by Christine Knox (William Penn/New Castle, DE), who posted a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Emily Najor at the No. 4 singles spot to improve to 5-0 this season in singles play.

Fordham won two of the three doubles matches to earn the doubles points. Delaware did pick up a win at the No. 1 doubles spot as Elly Giese and Jessica Wilkes teamed for a 9-7 win over Iona Dragon and Christine Levinworth. Giese and Wilkes improved to 6-4 on the season with the win.
