Blue Hens Win Second Straight, Win All But One Match vs. Hofstra

Jessica Wilkes Won at Both No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles

NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware men's and women's tennis teams posted their second straight Colonial Athletic Association sweep as the Blue Hens downed Hofstra University Friday afternoon.

The Blue Hen men (8-6, 2-0 CAA) posted a 7-0 victory over Hofstra at the Delaware Field House Courts while the UD women (5-10, 2-2 CAA) recorded a 6-1 win over the Pride at the Carpenter Sports Building Courts.

Both Delaware teams will continue CAA action Sunday when they host Drexel University at 11 a.m.

In the women's match, Delaware won eight of the nine matches, including four singles matches in straight sets. Posting singles wins were Elly Giese at No. 1 singles, Jessica Wilkes at No. 2, Anisha Talati at No. 3, Christine Knox at No. 5, and Beth Principe at No. 6. Delaware swept the doubles action with wins by Giese and Martine Street at No. 1, Talati and Wilkes at No. 2, and Knox and Principe at No. 3.

Knox and Principe each upper their winning streak to four matches in singles play while Giese captured her team-high 11th singles win of the season.

The Delaware men won all nine matches, winning four singles matches in straight sets. Posting victories for the Hens were Sanjay Khindri at No. 1 singles, John Tully at No. 2, Robert Wirth at No. 3, Lee Kennedy at No. 4, Dustin Lewis at No. 5, and David Mouber at No. 6. Lewis and Tully each recorded their team-high 12th singles win of the season while Khindri and Mouber each won for the third straight time.

In doubles, Khindri and Tully combined for a win at No. 1, Wirth and Ari Zweig were winners at No. 2, and Kennedy and Mouber combined for their 23rd career win together at the No. 3 spot.
