Kutztown Invitational October 20, 2001 Blue Hens Dominate Action, Take Five of Six Titles at Kutztown   Anisha Talati Won Two Titles for the Blue Hens KUTZTOWN, PA -- The University of Delaware women's tennis team captured five titles and two members of the UD men's tennis team advanced to the finals to place second to highlight action at the Kutztown University Invitational Saturday. There were no team standings in the seven-team tournament that included four flights of singles and two flights of doubles for both men and women. The Delaware women dominated the field, winning all four singles titles and taking one of the doubles titles. The UD men did not win a title, but had two singles players advance to the finals before losing. For the UD women, Elly Giese (National Cathedral/Washington, DC) defeated teammate Jessica Wilkes (Nazareth/Bethlehem, PA) 6-4, 6-3 in the Flight A singles championship, Anisha Talati (Hillsborough/Bellemead, NJ) defeated teammate Martine Street (Williams/Burlington, NC) 6-2, 4-6 (10-7) in the Flight B finals, Danielle Wall (Villa Maria/Newtown Square, PA) downed teammate Jessica Quittman (Harrison/Harrison, NY) 6-5, 5-6 (10-6) in the Flight C finals, and Christine Knox (William Penn/New Castle, DE) upended teammate Beth Principe (Watchung Hills/Warren, NJ) 6-0, 6-3 in the Flight D singles title match. In doubles play, the Blue Hen team of Talati and Quittman defeated teammates Knox and Principe, 8-2 to win the Flight B title. On the men's side, junior Lee Kennedy (North Mecklenburg/Cornelius, NC) and sophomore John Fogelgren (Salesianum/Wilmington, DE) each advanced to the finals before falling, earning a second place finish. Kutztown's Guillermo Ramos downed Kennedy 6-1, 6-3 in the Flight B singles finals while Kutztown's Andreas Ravn downed Fogelgren 6-1, 6-1 in the Flight C singles championship. The tournament closed out the fall season for both the UD men's and women's teams. Both teams will return to action in March.
