Delaware Wins Five
Singles Matches to Close Out Regular Season
TOWSON, MD - The University
of Delaware closed out the regular season Tuesday afternoon
with a 6-1 Colonial Athletic Association women's tennis
victory over host Towson University.
The Blue Hens claimed their fourth
straight victory to improve to 7-10 (3-3 CAA) heading into
the CAA Tournament which begins Thursday at Richmond,
VA.
Delaware won five of the six singles
matches with senior Elly Giese winning at No. 1,
junior Jessica Wilkes at No. 2, sophomore Anisha
Talati at No. 3, senior Martine Street at No. 4,
and junior Christine Knox at No. 5.
Giese improved to 13-7 on the season with
her fourth straight victory while Knox won her sixth
straight match to improve to 12-4. Talati improved to 12-9
on the season.
Delaware swept the three doubles matches
as Giese and Street won 8-2 at the No.1 spot, Talati and
Wilkes teamed for an 8-2 win at No. 2, and Knox and Beth
Principe were 8-6 winner at the third spot.
Talati and Wilkes (4-1) and Knox and
Principe (7-3) each won for the fourth straight time.
