April 10, 2003 Blue Hens Post Second Straight Shutout Victory NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware women's tennis team posted its second straight shutout over a conference opponent and the UD men reached another 10-win season as the Blue Hens swept Towson University in a Colonial Athletic Conference tennis match Thursday. The Delaware women improved to 6-8 overall and remained perfect against CAA opponents this season at 3-0 with a 7-0 victory while the Blue Hen men snapped a four-match losing streak with a 6-1 victory over the Tigers. The UD men improved to 10-11 (3-3 CAA) with the victory, assuring the Blue Hens of their 12th straight season with 10 or more dual wins. In the women's match, Delaware won all nine matches as singles wins were delivered by Jessica Wilkes (Nazareth/Bethlehem, PA) at No. 1, Christine Knox at No. 2, Jen Lamberton at No. 3, Beth Principe at No. 4, Stefanie Riddle at No. 5, and Julia Shapiro at No. 6. In doubles, Delaware's doubles teams of Wilkes and Principe at No. 1, Knox and Lamberton at No. 2, and Katie Heath and Katie Miller at No. 3 were all winners. Wilkes won her team-high sixth straight singles match to improve to 13-5 on the season and moved into a tie for sixth place on the all-time UD singles wins list with her 48th career victory, tying Lisa Fry (48-24 in 1993-97). On the men's side, Delaware rebounded from a four-match losing streak with an easy win as the Hens won five of the six singles matches and swept the three doubles matchups. Earning singles victories were John Tully at No. 1, Sanjay Khindri at No. 2, Dustin Lewis at No. 4, Adam Liebman at No. 5, and Josh Ditman at No. 6. The doubles team of Tully and Robert Wirth at No. 1, Khindri and Ditman at No. 2, and Patrick Seitz and Ari Zweig at No. 3 were also victorious. AGATE: Women: Delaware def.
