October 2, 2003 Wildcats Sweep Delaware VILLANOVA, PA -- Villanova captured all six singles matches and swept the three doubles competitions to post a 7-0 non-league women's tennis victory over the University of Delaware Thursday afternoon. Delaware, coming off a 7-0 win over West Chester Tuesday, fell to 1-2 on the season. The Hens will take nine days off before returning to action Oct. 11 at La Salle. Villanova got singles victories from Melissa Reed at No. 1, Courtney Flezzani at No. 2, Jessie Rybacki at No. 3, Kelly McAndrew at No. 4, Leighann Reilly at No. 5, and Erica Walter at No. 6. Delaware took the Wildcats to the wire in two of the singles matches as Liz Perlow dropped a 5-7, 6-1, 10-6 verdict to Flezzani at the No. 2 spot and Beth Principe fell to Villanova's Leighann Reilly 6-2, 1-6, 10-4 at the No. 5 spot. The Hens' closest match in doubles came at the No. 1 spot where Perlow and Sari Shuster dropped an 8-6 decision to Candice Carlin and Megan Flezzani. AGATE: Villanova def.
