April 3, 2004 Singer Wins Hens' Only Match in Setback HARRISONBURG, VA -- The University of Delaware men's tennis team was swept by James Madison and Radford University while the Blue Hen women's team lost to UNC Wilmington Saturday afternoon in matches played at James Madison University. The Blue Hen men (8-8, 0-1 Colonial Athletic Association) lost to host James Madison 4-0 in a CAA match and followed with a 6-0 setback to Radford in non-league action. UNC Wilmington defeated the Delaware women by a 6-1 score. The Hens fell to 5-8, 0-2 CAA with the loss. Both Delaware teams will continue action April 7 at CAA opponent Towson University. Against Radford, Brandon Johnson defeated Delaware's Sanjay Khindri 6-3, 6-3 in No. 1 singles action while Authur Basavecic downed John Tully 6-3, 6-1 at the No. 2 spot. Radford's Andre Cauaco knocked off Adam Liebman at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0, Joakim Arhammar defeated Josh Ditman in No. 4 singles action, 6-0, 6-3, Rovel Meryistead downed Ari Zweig at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-3, and Dustin Lewis fell to Dominic Stezr, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 6 singles. No doubles matches were played, as the result of the match was already determined. In the James Madison match, the Hens picked up their lone win at No. 2 doubles where the Delaware team of Ditman and Zweig posted a 9-7 win over Colin Malcolm and David Emery. On the women's side, Delaware sophomore Marissa Singer scored the lone win of the day for the Blue Hens, knocking off Sheri Elkin of UNC Wilmington 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
