-- The University of Delaware women's
tennis team took five of six singles
matches and won all three doubles matches
to post a 6-1 victory over Loyola (MD)
Wednesday afternoon at the Delaware tennis
courts.
Susan
Pollack improved to 13-3 at No. 1 singles
by posting a 6-2, 6-2 win over Amy Nitch
to lead the Blue Hens, who improved to 8-1
this year. Liz Perlow shut out Jessica
Liberatore 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 to move to a
team-best 14-2 on the season, while Sari
Shuster posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory over
Meagan McKenna at No. 3 to improve to
12-3.
Alexa
Dragonette defeated Christi Lazar 6-0, 6-3
at No. 4 singles to move to 4-2, while
Brittany Barsky recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win
over Stefanie Clay at No. 6 as she
improved to 7-5 on the year. Claire Najour
posted the lone win for the Greyhounds,
who fell to 1-1, at No. 5 as she defeated
Katie Miller 4-6, 7-6 (5),
10-7.
Pollack
and Shuster defeated Nitch and Liberatore
8-1 at No. 1 doubles to improve to 8-3 on
the season, while Dragonette and Jamie
deGraffenreid edged McKenna and Lazar 9-7
at No. 2 doubles to move to 8-1 this year.
Miller and Barsky shut out Najour and Clay
8-0 at No. 3 doubles as the pair improved
to 6-2 this season.
Delaware
returns to action Saturday when the Blue
Hens travel to Lafayette for an 11 a.m.
match with the Leopards.
