Hen Women Netters Open 2004-05 Season by
Winning Six Titles at Swarthmore

SWARTHMORE,
PA -- University of Delaware athletes
captured six of the nine championship
titles at the season-opening Swarthmore
Women's Tennis Tournament this past
weekend.
Blue Hen
freshman Susan Pollack captured the Flight
A singles title, Liz Perlow was the winner
of the Flight B singles crown, Jamie
deGraffenreid won at Flight C singles
title, Julie Schiller was the winner at
Flight D singles, Kate Miller was the
Flight E singles champion, and the doubles
team of Miller and Stefanie Riddle
captured the Flight C doubles
title.
There were
no finals contested at Flight F singles
and Flight A doubles. Swarthmore's duo of
Erica Lukoski and Elli Suzuki defeated
Delaware's team of Marisa Singer and
Schiller 8-6 in the Flight C doubles
championship.
Pollack
downed teammate Sari Shuster 6-0, 6-1 in
the Flight A finals, Perlow downed
teammate Alexa Dragonette 7-6 (3), 4-6,
1-0 (12) in the Flight B finals,
deGraffenreid downed teammate Brittany
Barsky 6-3, 6-2 in the Flight C
championship, Schiller upended Midyette of
Swarthmore 6-7 (3), 6-2, 1-0 (7) in the
Flight D finals, Miller downed
Millersville's Caitlin Golden 6-0, 6-0 in
the Flight E championship and then teamed
with Stefanie Riddle to down teammates
Lauren Rothe and Julia Shapiro 8-2 in the
Flight C doubles title match.
The Blue
Hens will continue action this weekend at
the Towson Invitational while the UD men
open the 2004-05 campaign at the
Swarthmore Invitational.
