Blue Hen Women Netters Down Webber 9-0, Win 150th for Travis

BABSON PARK, FL -- The University of Delaware men's and women's tennis teams each picked up easy victories over host Webber International Tuesday afternoon with the UD women winning 9-0 and the Blue Hen taking a 6-3 verdict.

The Delaware men, who increased their winning streak to three matches, improved to 2-0 during their spring break trip to Florida and 7-2 overall while the UD women moved to 1-1 during the trip and 11-2 overall with the victories over NCAA Division II Webber. The Delaware women downed Webber (2-9) for the second straight year while the UD men downed Webber (9-9) for the first time since 1989 after six straight losses.

The Delaware women's victory gave Blue Hen head coach Laura Travis her 150th career victory. The former Blue Hen standout is now 150-109 in her 13th season at the helm.

The Blue Hen women won all nine matches to posts their sixth shutout of the season, receiving singles victories from Susan Pollack, Liz Perlow, Sari Shuster, Alexa Dragonette, and Katie Miller. Webber forfeited the No. 6 singles match. In doubles, Delaware's teams of Pollack and Dragonette won at the No. 1 spot and Miller and Brittany Barsky won at the No. 2 spot. Webber also forfeited at the No. 3 doubles position.

Pollack and Perlow each improved to 16-4 on the season in singles while Shuster improved to 15-4, Dragonette improved to 7-3, and Miller moved her mark to 9-3.

On the men's side, Delaware got singles victories Adam Liebman at No. 2, Josh Ditman at No. 3, Jesse Carl at No. 4, and Jason Hanschman at No. 6. Hanschman (12-4) won his team-high 12th singles match of the season while Ditman improved to 9-3 and Carl improved to 8-5.

In doubles action, Delaware got wins from Sammy Carl and Philip Wayne at the No. 2 spot and from Ditman and Jonathan Schwartz at the No. 3 spot. Carl and Wayne improved to 9-1 on the season.
