 TOWSON, MD -- The Universiity of Delaware women’s tennis team dropped its third straight match with a narrow 4-3 defeat to James Madison University Sunday afternoon in a Colonial Athletic Association match played at Towson University.
Susan Pollack defeated Kristin Nordstrom 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles as she improved to 12-5 on the season and 31-14 in her career for the Blue Hens, who dropped to 4-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference. Sari Shuster (right) topped Ashley Reyher 6-2, 7-5 at No. 4 singles for Delaware, as she won her 10th match of the season and moved into a tie for 10th place on the school’s career wins list with a 42-28 mark.
Mary Napier defeated Amanda Campbell 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 singles for the Dukes, while Anna Khoor recorded a 7-5, 6-4 win over Liz Perlow at No. 3. Lauren Graham topped Alexa Dragonette 7-5, 6-0 at No. 5 for James Madison, while Catherine Phillips needed three sets in a 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 victory over Brittany Barsky at No. 6.
Pollack and Campbell defeated Nordstrom and Napier, 8-3, at No. 1 doubles to improve their record to 16-4 on the year and move into a tie for third place on the Delaware doubles single-season wins list. Shuster and Schiller recorded an 8-6 win over Reyher and Barrett Donner at No. 3 as the Blue Hens took the doubles point, while Khoor and Graham defeated Dragonette and Barsky, 8-6, at No. 2 doubles for the Dukes.
The Blue Hens return to action on Wednesday with a 2 p.m. match at UMBC.
