NEWARK, DE -- The University of Delaware men’s tennis team posted a 5-2 win while the Blue Hen women fell 4-3 in a non-league matches against Quinnipiac Thursday afternoon at the Delaware Field House Courts.

The Delaware men swept the three doubles matches and won four of the six singles matches to down Quinnipiac and improve to 4-1 on the season. The Blue Hen women, playing for the first time since Feb. 18 after three straight cancellations, fell to 3-2.

Jesse Carl, Nolan Greenberg, Jon Schwartz, and Josh Levine were all double winners for the Blue Hen men. Carl defeated Andrew Chan 7-5, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, Greenberg was a 7-5, 6-3 win over Jon Russo at the No. 4 spot, Schwartz downed Goldy Sherrill 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 singles, and Levine was a 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 winner over Greg Kregman. Greenberg (8-3) won his team-high eighth singles match of the season.

In doubles, Carl and Greenberg defeated Chan and Mike Racioppo 9-7 at No. 1, Jason Hanschmann and Philip Wayne posted an 8-4 win over Stefano Salvatore and Sherrill at No. 2, and Schwartz and Levine downed Russo and Tom Curran 8-3 at the No. 3 spot.

On the women’s side, Delaware posted four victories as Sari Shuster (at right) posted a 6-2, 6-1 win over Amanda Petruzzi at No. 3 singles, Alexis Dragonette downed Danielle Rodriguez 6 3, 6-2 at No. 5, and Brittany Barsky was a 6-1, 6-2 winner over Kasey Rosenberger at No. 6.

Shuster then teamed with Julie Schiller to pick up the Hens’ lone doubles win, teaming for an 8-3 win over Rodriguez and Amy Sarrazin at the No. 3 position.

Shuster improved to 40-26 all-time in singles play, becoming just the 14th player in school history to reach the 40-win mark.
